Far-seer – Robert J. Sawyer

The library should post a warning that the cover of this book is not suitable for adult readers.  A T-Rex wearing a red satin sash, holding a telescope, with Jupiter rising from the horizon.

Back-story: aliens transplanted a full selection of dinosaurs to this planet millenia ago, and one species has evolved to intelligence.

Our young hero may as well be called Galileo, and that’s your whole plot.  The interesting riffs come from the social aspects of medieval carnivorous dinosaurs… their child-rearing, government, religion, etc.

It’s… OK.  The story feels forced, with the clash between scientific discovery and religion. I am not rushing to retrieve the sequel.
