This is a darker style for Charles De Lint. I think I liked it better because of this – sometimes his lighter work is just not substantial enough.
This felt somewhat more like a Stephen King book.
It’s about Gypsies and magic (of course there is magic). Ghosts and a cop and a fiddler and a witch-woman (I don’t remember the right word there).
I like the show-down in the woods at the cabin/cottage. I found it very easy to visualize, though my own familiarity with Ontario forests probably helped out there.
