This is the best Nevada Barr book yet, possibly. Anna moves to the Natchez Trail Parkway in order to get a promotion, and (astounded?) runs into a murder.
There’s a really good sense of the local campground, and the feeling of swampy jungle around the road. The high-school culture is well-rendered, both the victim(s) and the suspects.
There are the resentful incumbent rangers and scads of interesting locals. The mystery ties in practically all the threads by the end of the book, very impressively.
