Invasion of the Spirea; or, the plot thickens

And now for something completely different.  Gardening.  Having visited Baltimore earlier this month, I am thinking spring, even though we had an actual snow-day two days ago and I can no longer see my own crocus sprouts.

Spirea as a weed?!

This is bugging me. What is with the spirea in my front garden?  It’s re-sprouting from roots and self-seeding! I’ve never seen this before, and I’ve had my own spirea in gardens since, let’s think now, 1998.

C.J. Cherryh’s website got tons better while I was not watching

Ooh, goodie. You may have noticed that I am retrofitting in my more-favourite links from delicious.  And in going to C.J. Cherryh, I discover that it’s gotten soooo much better over there!  You know, I read the entire backlog of her blog when I first discovered it, and now, there’s an active area in a real blog format.

Yay.

This is one of my favorite rants of all time:

I can believe ….

 that there’s a cat in a box somewhere who’s alive and dead at the same time (although if they don’t ever open the box to feed it it’ll eventually just be two different kinds of dead)
